Techstars Startup Week Dar Es Salaam is an online event that brings together Tanzania entrepreneurs, innovators, government, corporate leaders and the global community over five days of curated events to build momentum and opportunity around our community’s unique entrepreneurial and innovative identity.
Our Themes
Our themes are well curated to cover transformative events that will significantly strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Tanzania.
Promoting Women in Technology
Women are now playing a crucial role in the tech space, either as tech entrepreneurs, tech leaders in the corporate scene or tech advocates. This theme will host a series of events that will celebrate and promote women in tech, workshops on equality and equity in tech spaces and workshops on inclusive workplace for women to thrive in the tech sector.
Hack for Youth Entrepreneurship
Under this theme, we will be working with event partners to host hack spaces to help young entrepreneurs unlock best practices in launching and scaling their tech start-ups. The events will cover fireside chats with successful founders, role of incubation and accelerator hubs in venture building, corporate hackathons to expose young innovators to start-up development processes .
Startup Policy – Ease of Doing Business
As Tanzania’s Tech Ecosystem continues to engage the government and other key stakeholders in exploring best policies for start-ups, Techstars Dar Es Salaam and Tanzania Start-ups Association will be hosting series of policy dialogue workshops and focus groups with the government authorities, Corporate and Start-ups to forge new policies that will enable tech start-ups scale up in Tanzania
Funding Landscape for Startups in Tanzania
During Techstars Dar Es Salaam week, there will be lined up events that will focus on connecting startups to investment opportunities. The events cut across pitch marathons, investment readiness workshops, launch of Tanzania’s investment marketplace and more. This theme will unlock Tanzania’s funding landscape and connect Tanzania’s startups to global investment opportunities.
Social Entrepreneurship for Inclusive Development
Social entrepreneurship is now a more sustainable model towards solving most social problems in our communities. During Techstars Dar Es Salaam, we will be hosting events that will promote social entrepreneurship models, how social enterprises can leverage on technology to scale up and sustain their operations. The events will cover best social enterprise models for growth, partnerships for sustainable development with stakeholders.
